An extremely artistic musician with Asian colors in her playing, established pianist and pedagogue Dr. Wendy Wan-Hsing Chu has been teaching and performing for over two decades. Originally from Taipei, Taiwan, Dr. Chu started playing the piano at age 4 with her mother buying her a brand new upright Kawaii which she used throughout her college years.

Continuing her career in music, she moved to the States and earned her Doctor of Musical Arts (D. M. A.) degree from Michigan State University and a double Masters of Music in Piano Performance and Music Education from Central Michigan University, where she was the winner of the concerto competition. She has more than proven that she has a deep understanding in music. While at CMU, she studied piano with Dr. Alexandra Mascolo-David, piano pedagogy with Dr. Adrienne Wiley, and harpsichord with Dr. Steven Egler. Her principal teachers at MSU were Mr. Ralph Votapek and Mr. Panayis Lyras.

As a mother of three, she has a very busy schedule, but Dr. Chu still finds time to practice. Her performances are breathtaking, with recent selections from Debussy, Ravel, Mussorgsky, and Liszt. She has performed in solo and chamber recitals in Taiwan, Austria, Canada, and the U.S, making appearances in festivals, concert series, master classes, and has been featured on PBS. Dr. Chu has collaborated with other great artists and made recordings with vocalist Nicholas Allen, saxophonist Mandy Grezeszak, and pianist Jeanne Hanley Thelen. Her well-picked programs demonstrate her technical abilities as well as her great taste in classical music.

Dr. Chu has also taught at Michigan State University, Central Michigan University, Saginaw Valley State University, and Stella Royce Music Camp. She was the past President of the Mid-Michigan Music Teachers Association and still contributes to the association to today. Her devotion to music is unwavering and she continues to fight for her passion as it brings her happiness in her life. She hopes to spread her love of the beautiful sound of classical music to many other people.
